The FIBA Americas League is a professional male basketball club tournament and has been around since December 2007.
There are 16 clubs that form the division and the format sees four groups consisting of four teams in each. The top two teams in each group automatically qualify for the quarter-final stage. The winners of the quarter-finals then form a four-team group and they will then battle it out to see who will be crowned champions.
The most successful team in the history of the FIBA Americas is Penarol de Mar del Plata from Argentina with two titles under their belt – They won their first one in 2008 before bagging their second in 2010.
Brazilian clubs UniCEUB/Brasilia and Pinheiros along with Argentinian duo Regatas Corrientes, and Pioneros de Quintana Roos have all won one championship each.
